This publication on the Irish American Cultural Institute’s O’Malley Collection of contemporary Irish art at the University of Limerick features works by 20 of Ireland’s best-known artists. More than two decades ago, Helen Hooker O’Malley Roelofs entrusted a portion of her extensive art collection to the Irish American Cultural Institute. Her gift of over 400 pieces to the IACI honoured her late husband Ernie O’Malley, and was subsequently named the IACI O’Malley Art Collection.
For many years the collection was spread across multiple locations in Ireland, but the collection finally found a singular home on loan at Plassey House, University of Limerick. The IACI O’Malley Art Collection is an outstanding collection of art from around the world. In particular, the Irish section includes work by many fine artists such as Louis le Brocquy, Evie Hone, Mainie Jellett, Jack B Yeats, Gerard Dillon, Jack B Yeats, Paul Henry, and many more.
